Our Department Members to Participate in a €29 Million EU Horizon Project
We are proud to announce that our faculty members will take part in the OPEVA Project, which has been awarded funding under the highly competitive HORIZON-KDT-JU-2021-2-RIA call of the EU Horizon (Key Digital Technologies - KDT) Program. Our university is the project manager for Turkey in this international collaboration, which includes 42 organizations from 9 countries and has a total budget of €29 million.
The OPEVA Project aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable electric vehicles through ecosystem optimization. The project focuses on enhancing energy independence, utilizing non-polluting energy sources, and integrating L-class vehicles, which are critical for last-mile logistics. One of the key applications will be the first electric vehicle deployment for on-campus transportation at ESOGÜ.
The project will be carried out jointly by faculty members from the Departments of Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Industrial Engineering. The ESOGÜ coordination will be led by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yazıcı (Computer Engineering Department). From the Department of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Murat Karacasu and Dr. Kadir Berkhan Akalın will contribute to the project by focusing on transportation characteristics and route optimization processes.
We congratulate our faculty members on their participation in this prestigious project and wish them continued success.
